Channel Products Inc. (CPI) was formed in 1972 by Don Berlincourt and Don Markeson. Mr. Berlincourt has authored 120 technical articles, is the holder of 45 U.S. patents, and is world-renowned in the field of piezoelectric ceramics. Another significant contributor to their success has been Carmen Germano, who is well known (and widely published) in the technical area of piezoelectric transducers. Mr. Germano was CPI’s Chief Engineer, and remains an active consultant for CPI in his retirement.
CPI is headquartered in Chesterland, Ohio, about 20 miles east of Cleveland, and has a sales office in Guangzhou China. The CPI facilities produce a combined 9 million igniters and ignition controls and 12 million electrode and sensor assemblies per year. CPI is a leading design and manufacturing company that, in addition to supplying electronic and piezoceramic igniters and gas ignition safety controls, produces electrodes and sensor assemblies, wire assemblies, and accessories to the gas appliance industry worldwide. Additional products include piezoelectric ceramic materials, piezoelectric transducers, nebulizers, sensors, filters, and resonators.
CPI specializes in producing custom products. The company has a fully staffed design-engineering group that is capable of developing products that meet each customer’s specific needs. CPI provides custom application work, modifying a family of "platform" control products to go on any appliance for the most cost-effective and shortest time-to-market solution.
